Practice Assistant, Public Finance

The Project Assistant will provide administrative support to paralegals and lawyers, including assisting with scheduling, correspondence and document preparation, time entry, travel arrangements, expense reimbursements, client billing and filing. The ideal candidate will be professional, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects.  Substantive practice area knowledge can be learned while on the job, and the ideal candidate is a self-motivated, detail oriented individual with the ability to multi-task.

Overtime and flexibility in schedule may be required from time to time.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with various activities involved with the authorization and sale of an Issuer’s bonds, closings, and elections
  • Assist with document preparation, review and execution, keep attorneys apprised of deadlines and issues that arise during the course of a transaction
  • Assist paralegals in drafting documents for tax-exempt bond financings
  • Prepare and organize necessary legal and closing documents for closings, filing and other administrative duties, as assigned
  • Assemble transcripts for submission to the Attorney General
  • Proofread legal documents for content, grammar, typographical and spelling errors
  • Prepare and assemble both paper and electronic transcripts
  • Maintain physical and electronic files
  • Prepare original files for offsite storage
  • Prepare monthly reports
  • Complete administrative tasks and other special projects as assigned by supervising attorneys or paralegals

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum one year of experience in a professional services environment, preferred
  • Law firm experience a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize workload
  • Must be reliable, resourceful and organized for this fast-paced position
  • Attention to detail and responsibility for your workload is critical
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter with excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills
