Senior Business Analyst

The Global eDiscovery Group provides eDiscovery and document review services to the firm’s Disputes practice group.  The Senior Business Analyst is a strategic role that works with the Directors of the Group to help achieve its annual financial objectives through effective analysis and reporting related to all aspects of the operation.   

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Financial

  • Prepare and analyze monthly department financials
  • Analyze and report on budget vs actual and year over year variances
  • Participate in developing annual operating and revenue budgets
  • Prepare monthly matter eDiscovery costs to include on client legal invoices
  • Analyze and provide write-off information to Directors for escalation
  • Coordinate with billing coordinators regarding bill rates on new matters
  • Coordinate with finance regarding accounts receivable reporting
  • Handle accounts payable functions

 Fee Earner Productivity

  • Monitor and report on the team’s compliance with the time entry policy
  • Generate and analyze productivity reports
  • Conduct periodic audits of time entry narratives to assess compliance with guidelines
  • Case intake and resource management
  • Track and report new case intake throughout the month
  • Assist Directors to assess capacity of project management resources to determine assignments to new projects

 Other

  • Assist in generating cost estimates for eDiscovery and document review projects
  • Analyze and refresh metrics and assumptions used to generate eDiscovery estimates
  • Develop and update eDiscovery process maps at direction of lawyers and Directors
  • Maintain department brochures and marketing materials
  • Maintain repository of PowerPoint presentations and key documents
  • Additional responsibilities and special projects as requested

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Fundamental understanding of accounting principles
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 suite
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Reliable, resourceful and organized
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
  • Prior law firm or eDiscovery vendor experience preferred
