New Matter Finance Review Technician

The position of New Matter Finance Review Technician in the Houston office requires a self-starter to become proficient in processing the finance portion of new matters submitted by firm attorneys. The candidate must have excellent customer service skills to communicate and troubleshoot with lawyers and legal staff. Some overtime will be necessary.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Process requests that are submitted through the process management application (Intapp workflow software)
  • Setup new clients and matters in billing systems (SAP)
  • Review paperwork associated with opening new clients and matters for accuracy and appropriate approvals
  • Review of client’s billing guidelines and outside counsel guidelines
  • Review and process payer record additions and amendments
  • Correspond with lawyers and legal secretaries regarding approvals for special billing rates or agreements and other specific form details
  • Assist Client Accounting management with special projects and other administrative duties


  • At least three years of experience in a professional environment, preferably within a law firm
  • Preferred experience with a legal industry standard financial systems database (e.g. SAP)
  • Excellent oral and written business communication skills; prior exposure to international business correspondence is a plus
  • Willingness to learn law and fundamental principles regarding clients, matters, and payers and strong issue-spotting skills are essential
  • Ability to consistently exercise discretion and independent judgment
  • Strong team player is a must
  • Flexibility to work independently and in a team atmosphere with a high degree of accuracy, confidentiality and professionalism
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Strong sense of urgency/prioritization and ability to recognize when to seek guidance
  • Detail oriented, with above average spelling, language and grammar skills
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong data entry skills
