Client Accounting Coordinator

The Client Accounting Coordinator in the Houston office requires a self-starter who will support key functional areas of the Client Accounting department. The candidate must have excellent customer service skills to communicate and troubleshoot with lawyers and legal staff. Some overtime will be necessary.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Monitor and regularly analyze Business Intake workflow to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and training needs and address any backlogs or processing delays
  • Assist Client Accounting management with special projects and other administrative tasks
  • Data entry into SAP
  • Communicate directly with partners and partner practice coordinators to obtain missing information, clarification of existing information, and other required data
  • Provide guidance and assistance to partners and others in the firm regarding the most appropriate course of action with respect to implementing special billing arrangements
  • Periodically provides analyses for use by Firm Management in the periodic review of client-specific rate arrangements
  • Maintain understanding of all aspects of the billing rate hierarchy and billing process
  • Support, analyze and assist in the review of issues
  • Provide backup support to client account analyst group

  • At least three years of experience in a professional environment, preferably within a law firm
  • Preferred experience with a legal industry standard financial systems database
  • Experience with SAP is a plus
  • Must be able to adapt quickly to changing priorities, work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and work within tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and in a team atmosphere
  • Ability to interact well with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrate a high degree of accuracy, discretion, professionalism, and independent judgment
  • Must be flexible to work extra hours as dictated by the demands of the role
  • Strong technical acumen and demonstrated computer skills, including understanding of database applications, specifically with regards to report structure and workflow
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and strong data entry skills
