Fulbright Lawyers Join with UT Arts Groups for First Law Clinic for Artists

Fulbright joined with two organizations—the University of Texas’ Law Students for the Arts and Texas Accountants and Lawyers for the Arts—to host a clinic to serve low-income artists, musicians and filmmakers.

The group offered free legal service in a clinic setting, allowing students to get involved and work with attorneys and clients. Artists were matched up, on the spot, with IP lawyers, entertainment lawyers and corporate lawyers to obtain free legal advice.

Held in Fulbright’s Austin office, additional law firms and companies joined the clinic. The group is discussing the possibility of holding future clinics once a semester at alternating locations.

Fulbright lawyers participating in the clinic were senior associates Ashley Callahan, Alicia Groos, Phil Svahn, along with associates Danny Prati, Andy Liddell and Chris Weimer. Secretary Cindy Ladd handled logistics.
