Practice Assistant, Intellectual Property

Our Austin, Texas office has an immediate need for a Practice Assistant to support the Intellectual Property practice. The ideal candidate is an ambitious, self-motivated college graduate with an interest in the legal profession.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare formal documents during the various stages of the patent prosecution process
  • Prepare and oversee correspondence to clients regarding actions received from the USPTO, the International Bureau, and foreign patent offices
  • Coordinate with clients, attorneys, and paralegal regarding the filing of actions with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
  • Correspondence directly with the USPTO in the filing of these actions
  • Assist in the preparation of Information Disclosure Statements
  • Maintain knowledge of domestic and foreign patent laws in order to assist paralegals and attorneys with drafting legal documents
  • Review and file correspondence both paper and electronic
  • Assist paralegals and attorneys, as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, required (preferably a Bachelor of Science)
  • Must be reliable, resourceful and organized for this fast-paced position
  • Attention to detail and responsibility for your workload is critical
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite essential
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Minimum 2-year commitment
