Business Development Coordinator, Financial Institutions

We are looking for a Business Development (BD) Coordinator to work with our US Financial Institutions Business Development Team. This position will report to the US Business Development Manager, Financial Institutions. The position may be based in Dallas or New York.

Norton Rose Fulbright’s Financial Institutions Team includes lawyers from corporate, transactional, disputes, project finance and intellectual property practices. These lawyers are focused on providing legal advice to many of the world’s leading banks, asset managers, financial investors and insurance companies.

The Team

The Business Development Coordinator will provide support to the US Financial Institutions Team on items such as client development plans, industry events and sponsorships, budgets, credentials, pitches, presentations, directories (such as Chambers and Legal 500), online content and publications. 

The Role

You will support the Financial Institutions sector lawyers on specific marketing and business development initiatives, which aim to monitor the legal trends of the industry and raise and maintain awareness of our practices in line with those trends and our strategic growth objectives. Specific tasks include:

  • Assisting with the development and execution of BD initiatives to target opportunities in specific work areas, sectors and locations
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of pitches, proposals, experience statements, marketing collateral and brochures
  • Assist with creation of submissions to legal directories (such as Chambers and Legal 500)
  • Coordinating in the production, editing and mailing of internal newsletters
  • Event support and delivery in collaboration with the in-house events team for industry conference sponsorships, client presentations and seminars, client dinners and other events related to the promotion of the practices
  • Coordinating internal meetings regarding specific client or sector business opportunities and initiatives
  • Monitoring financial institutions sector trends and conducting sector or organization research
  • Assisting with the development and execution of marketing campaigns and project plans to ensure effective and timely delivery; measuring client engagement
  • Using internal communications channels in the US and, where relevant, at a global level to raise awareness of BD initiatives and opportunities
  • Coordinating the development and publicizing of thought leadership, client alerts and articles, in cooperation with the central communications team where necessary
  • Updating relevant intranet and internet web content

Skills and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience working in a legal and/or professional services environment
  • Client service orientation and listening skills
  • Experience in the financial institutions sector is a plus
  • Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and have strong skills in written/verbal communication, organizational ability and prioritization
  • Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint and Excel; CRM tools, such as InterAction, a plus
  • Willingness to take on additional responsibility
  • Some overtime and travel may be required
