Our Austin, Texas office has an immediate need for an Intellectual Property Patent Prosecution Paralegal.  The ideal candidate will be efficient, multitask-oriented, independent, and a team player.  The position is responsible for monitoring and meeting numerous deadlines for a large and active patent portfolio. 

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • File US and PCT applications
  • Coordinate filings of foreign patent applications with foreign law firms
  • Coordinate the filing of formality documents including oaths, powers of attorney, assignments, information disclosure statements, and formal drawings
  • Correspond with clients, attorneys, and foreign law firms regarding all aspects of the patent prosecution process
  • Monitor approaching deadlines, take appropriate action, and follow-up with relevant parties
  • Research and maintain working knowledge of US and foreign patent prosecution rules and procedures, navigate and utilize a plethora of patent related websites and databases
  • Assist with maintaining electronic files

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, required
  • Prior patent paralegal experience, preferred
  • Familiarity with legal resources
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact well with people at all levels of the organization and some external parties
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, strong judgment, initiative, integrity and be a dependable, highly motivated, team player
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Detail oriented
  • Flexibility to operate independently and in a team atmosphere with a high degree of accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism
  • Ability to work overtime when required
