IP Transactions Lawyer

The firm is hiring attorneys or patent agents with at least two years of patent prosecution experience in our Dallas, Houston, or Austin offices. Candidates should have significant experience drafting patent applications and prosecuting US patents and foreign applications. In addition, candidates should have excellent academic credentials and strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.  Ideal candidates would have an Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering degree.  Candidates must be registered or qualified to register with the USPTO. Preference is for a E.E. patent prosecutor in Dallas and an M.E. prosecutor in Austin; though the Team functions across geographic boundaries and suitable candidates should not be discouraged from applying for a position in any of the Dallas, Austin, or Houston offices.

The Houston office is seeking a lawyer with 3-5 years of litigation experience to join the Energy and Infrastructure practice team.  The candidate must have a strong interest in traditional oil and gas litigation (including upstream, midstream, and oil field services).  The candidate should have energy and commercial litigation experience, including as to matters involving oil and gas royalties, surface use, lease interpretation disputes, contract and commercial disputes.  The candidate must have strong research, analysis, and writing skills. The Washington, D.C. office is seeking a lawyer with 1-4 years of privacy and cybersecurity experience in-house or at a large or specialized firm, including advisory (e.g., preparing privacy policies, reviewing online terms and conditions, researching technology law issues, etc.), transactional (e.g., drafting and negotiating technology agreements and vendor contracts), and/or crisis management (e.g., responding to a data security incident or a government inquiry from the Federal Trade Commission or State Attorneys General).  Experience evaluating impact of privacy laws (HIPAA, GLBA, COPPA, GDPR, etc), regulatory guidance, and enforcement actions, and other related guidelines on product or service features preferred.  Experience in all areas not required, but on-going active interest in privacy and cybersecurity work required.  Strong analytical ability, excellent communication and writing skills required.
