Patent Agent

The Austin or Houston office is seeking a licensed US patent agent with a Master's degree or higher in Chemistry, Biology or a similar life sciences discipline, or counsel with a JD degree and Master's degree or higher in Chemistry, Biology or a similar life sciences discipline.  The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience as a registered patent agent or patent lawyer.  Duties include, but are not limited to, drafting patent applications and other documents during all stages of the patent prosecution process with the US Patent and Trademark Office and with foreign patent offices; taking invention disclosures and coordinating and corresponding with inventors, lawyers, and clients; conducting and analyzing the results of prior art searches; and maintaining knowledge of the latest patent laws in order to assist lawyers with drafting legal documents.

The San Francisco office is seeking a lawyer with 3-6 years of privacy and cybersecurity law firm experience. Preferred experience should include advisory (e.g., preparing privacy policies, reviewing online terms and conditions, researching technology law issues, etc.), transactional (e.g., drafting and negotiating technology agreements and vendor contracts), and/or crisis management (e.g., responding to a data security incident or a government inquiry from the Federal Trade Commission or State Attorneys General).  Experience evaluating impact of privacy laws (HIPAA, GLBA, COPPA, GDPR, etc), regulatory guidance, and enforcement actions, and other related guidelines on product or service features preferred.  Experience in all areas not required, but on-going active interest in privacy and cybersecurity work required.  Strong analytical ability, excellent communication and writing skills required.
