The New York office is seeking a lawyer with 3 or more years of experience in labor and employment law to join the Employment and Labor practice group.  The ideal candidate will have experience with adversary proceedings, including litigating matters in state and federal court, as well as dealing with the EEOC and other state administrative agencies.  The candidate would also have experience with federal and state statutes affecting the employment relationship and familiarity with basic documents such as employment manuals.  The candidate will also be comfortable facing directly with clients and providing legal counseling and advice.  The candidate must have strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.  This posting is for an off-track, alternatively compensated position.  Candidates with significantly more than 3 years of experience will be considered, including candidates who may have taken a break from their legal careers, served in-house, or are interested in a position that does not require progression to partnership.

The San Francisco, Los Angeles or Washington, DC office is seeking lawyers with at least 3-6 years of privacy and cybersecurity experience in-house or at a large or specialized firm, including advisory (e.g., preparing privacy policies, reviewing online terms and conditions, researching technology law issues, etc.), transactional (e.g., drafting and negotiating technology agreements and vendor contracts), and/or crisis management (e.g., responding to a data security incident or a government inquiry from the Federal Trade Commission or State Attorneys General).  Experience evaluating impact of privacy laws (HIPAA, GLBA, COPPA, GDPR, etc), regulatory guidance, and enforcement actions, and other related guidelines on product or service features preferred.  Experience in all areas not required, but on-going active interest in privacy and cybersecurity work required.  Strong analytical ability, excellent communication and writing skills required. Must be admitted to and a member in good standing of the California or Washington, DC Bar. CIPP or other relevant industry certification or specialization preferred.

Norton Rose Fulbright US LLP is hiring lawyers to support its in-house Staff Counsel workforce. Under the direction of Norton Rose Fulbright lawyers, Staff Counsel assist litigation teams with complex legal work for the world's leading companies.

Staff Counsel at Norton Rose Fulbright receive sophisticated work and firm-supported training and supervision. Staff Counsel at Norton Rose Fulbright are not on a traditional partnership-track, however, they enjoy practicing law for sophisticated clients without some of the pressures or responsibilities that are associated with a traditional partnership-track positions.

Staff Counsel can be located in Norton Rose Fulbright's offices in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio or Austin. Compensation for Staff Counsel will be based upon market factors, but base salaries generally range from $85,000 to $125,000.

Responsibilities for Staff Counsel positions at Norton Rose Fulbright include, but are not limited to:

  • Handling all aspects of written discovery;
  • Preparing motions and other pleadings;
  • Attending hearings;
  • Taking depositions and preparing depositions summaries;
  • Client reporting, including the preparation of status reports; and
  • Some document review and legal research

Qualifications and Experience

  • Juris Doctor Degree from an ABA accredited institution;
  • Must be licensed to practice law and in good standing in Texas;
  • 2 plus years of litigation experience
  • Excellent research, analytical, problem identification, and resolution skills;
  • Superior attention to detail;
  • Proven and demonstrable dedication to work product quality;
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines;
