IP Transactions Lawyer

The firm is hiring attorneys or patent agents with at least two years of patent prosecution experience in our Dallas or Houston offices. Candidates should have significant experience drafting patent applications and prosecuting US patents and foreign applications. In addition, candidates should have excellent academic credentials and strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.  Ideal candidates would have an Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering degree.  Candidates must be registered or qualified to register with the USPTO. Preference is for a E.E. patent prosececutor; though the Team functions across geographic boundaries and suitable candidates should not be discouraged from applying for a position in any of the Dallas or Houston offices.

Privacy and Cybersecurity Lawyer

The Washington, D.C. office is seeking a lawyer with 1-4 years of privacy and cybersecurity experience in-house or at a large or specialized firm, including advisory (e.g., preparing privacy policies, reviewing online terms and conditions, researching technology law issues, etc.), transactional (e.g., drafting and negotiating technology agreements and vendor contracts), and/or crisis management (e.g., responding to a data security incident or a government inquiry from the Federal Trade Commission or State Attorneys General).  Experience evaluating impact of privacy laws (HIPAA, GLBA, COPPA, GDPR, etc), regulatory guidance, and enforcement actions, and other related guidelines on product or service features preferred.  Experience in all areas not required, but on-going active interest in privacy and cybersecurity work required.  Strong analytical ability, excellent communication and writing skills required. Norton Rose Fulbright US LLP is hiring lawyers to support its in-house Staff Counsel workforce.  Under the direction of Norton Rose Fulbright lawyers, Staff Counsel assist litigation teams with complex legal work for the world's leading companies.

Staff Counsel at Norton Rose Fulbright receive sophisticated work and firm-supported training and supervision.  Staff Counsel at Norton Rose Fulbright are not on a traditional partnership-track, however, they enjoy practicing law for sophisticated clients without some of the pressures or responsibilities that are associated with a traditional partnership-track positions.

Staff Counsel can be located in either  Norton Rose Fulbright's Dallas, Houston, or San Antonio offices.  Compensation for Staff Counsel will be based upon market factors, begins at $85,000 and is depending on experience.

Responsibilities for Staff Counsel positions at Norton Rose Fulbright include, but are not limited to:

  • Handling all aspects of written discovery;
  • Preparing motions and other pleadings;
  • Attending hearings;
  • Taking depositions and preparing deposition summaries;
  • Client reporting, including the preparation of status reports; and
  • Some document review and legal research

     

    Qualifications and Experience

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited institution;
  • Must be licensed to practice law and in good standing in Texas;
  • 2 plus years of litigation experience;
  • Excellent research, analytical, problem identification, and resolution skills;
  • Superior attention to detail;
  • Proven and demonstrable dedication to work product quality;
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work both as part of team and independently with appropriate supervision; 
  •  Willingness to occasionally provide after hours, overtime, and weekend support, if needed.
